Jobs & Markets for Tuesday

Kind of slim pickings today. But if you are a screenwriter you are definitely in luck!

SCREENPLAY WRITERS SOUGHT

In-Motion Pictures is seeking completed screenplays.

Thrillers, family adventures, action or adventure… no horror. Please
note, our budgets are ultra-low, which means your script must not have a
lot of locations or actors and extras. The action must be limited. Fighting
preferred — no cruise ships getting blown up by jet planes please.

Compensation: paid

FREELANCE WRITERS/GHOSTWRITERS SOUGHT

Looking for qualified ghostwriters or experienced writers looking to
ghostwrite. Price start at 8 cents to 10 cents/word — sometimes more. A
75,000 word ghosting job generally pays $5,000 to $6,000; 50,000 words run
$3,500 to $5,000; 35,000 words run about $2,500 to $3,500. Editing runs
about $15/hour or about $15/10 pages (2,500 words). Proofing is $15/20
pages. We cannot emphasize enough, however, the need for ONLY a committed
writer–insightful, responsible, experienced–not wannabes or people who
are going to flake out on us. We’ve been getting a few too many
“pretenders,” or those people “between jobs,” or people looking to try out
a new career, or part-timers. We’re sure you know what we mean. If you are
interested: Send us your complete contact information, 5 or 6 highlights/
credits that we can use to sell you to our clients, and give us some idea
of your strengths (and those types of jobs and subjects) you want nothing
to do with. A full list of credits would also be welcome so that we can
share that with prospective clients when asked. No agencies.

Please also send resume and 1 - 2 writing samples.

Compensation: $3,000 to $10,000 per job depending on length of manuscript

ARTICLE WRITER SOUGHT

Calling all journalists who like to interview people and write profiles of
“successful” people.

We are a new Internet company providing career information for teenagers
and “traditional” college-aged people. Our website is in the process of
being developed.

Journalists who are in their 20s (and may be writing for a college paper)
are particularly encouraged to contact us but there will be writers of all
ages.

Unfortunately our budget is tight but if you are interested, you will
receive $50 in exchange for interviewing one person and writing an article
that is 1,500 to 5,000 words in length. Unless it is really poorly written
(smile), your article including a byline will be posted on our website and
will likely be distributed to our subscribers via email.

If interested, please email a sample article that you have written and
provide information about your writing experience.

Compensation: $50 per article

INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS SOUGHT

Every writer has a story idea in their past that they knew was a compelling
piece – a damn fine read.

Yet, for some reason, those pinheaded editors passed on it.

Now, there’s a chance to tell that story.

The Naughty American, an online daily newspaper debuting in August is
looking for investigative pieces about the American subculture, and people
and organizations that challenge the status quo.

We want writers who can provide enlightening, entertaining, accurate
stories about what’s really going down in the U.S.

The tone of the writing is as important as the information. We covet quirky
angles, ironic detatchment, and humor — where appropriate — to get the
point across.

Please send a resume, previous clips and a pitch or two.

Compensation: Up to 40 cents per word depending on the story
