PayPerPost Unveils Social Spark
This weekend was Postie Con in Las Vegas and I sure wish I could have been there. From what I hear and the pictures I have seen, the bloggers, the PayPerPost team and the advertisers had one heck of a good time.
But the big news is that Ted Murphy, CEO of PPP, revealed to the world at Postie Con (you can read Ted’s experience here) the new metamorphosis of PayPerPost, which is now called IZEA, and Social Spark, whose code word for months has been Argus.
Posties who attended Postie Con were given keys to Social Spark and from what I understand will be able to start using it soon. (I’m not clear on when yet) I am in the beta group of Posties who report their stats and will get a key to Social Spark ahead of the January 2008 date when it goes totally public, so have been chomping at the bit to hear what it is all about.
From what I gather, Social Spark will combine the best of paid to blog services with social networking. No longer will Google Page rank dominate how much money a blogger can make. It will be up to the advertisers, after seeing the bloggers stats, traffic, demographic, profile, and other pertinent information, and also while forming online relationships with the bloggers themselves through Social Spark, that they will be able to select the blogs they want to do business with. The PayPerPost model will continue as is for now, but I am hearing rumblings that it will probably end up phasing itself out or being phased out.
I am not sure whether to be excited or worried at this point. I do know that the only constant in life is change, I just hope this turns out to be a good one, for myself and all the other posties, for advertisers, and for PayPerPost. There IS a lot of good press and predictions about Social Spark, so I will remain hopeful for now. I also know one thing for sure. Anything that stops the monopoly called Google from ruling the lives of people trying to make an honest living online by blogging about advertisers products and services has to be a good thing.
To read the best explanation of Social Spark and how it will work, as usual, Andy Beard is on top of things. You can read his post and detailed review of what is coming here.

Thank you for adding me to your favorites, Michele. Good luck and PPP. I am headed to visit your blog right now!
Denise,
Thanks for a great piece on PPP Social Spark! I think we’re all wondering how all the changes in store at PPP will affect us. (Of course, some have already gone into effect, since I’m a bit late with this comment!)
By the way, wanted to let you know that you’ll probably want to check out your Andy Beard link. It doesn’t take us to his site.
Thanks for that great info!
Jeanne

Hi Denise,
This all sounds most interesting! I just found your blog and I just recently signed up for PayPerPost. I am not even approved yet, but I’m excited to get started!
I’m sure I’ll stop by here often. You seem to have a lot of information and resources here. I’m definitely adding you to my Favorite Blogs List at my own blog Writing the Cyber Highway http://writingthecyberhighway.blogspot.com/.
Smiles,
Michele
