Review of Season Premiere “Deal or No Deal”

One of the best things about summer ending is the arrival of fall. And one of the best things about fall arriving is the return of our favorite TV shows. One of my very favorite shows had its season premier on Monday, September 17th. The premier of the primetime game show “Deal or No Deal,” hosted by one of my all time favorite comedians and one of the sexiest men on the planet, who is also an all around nice guy, Howie Mandel, did not disappoint. With Donald Trump playing the part of the mean old banker—a role he was perfect for, even going overboard by being extra mean, at least until the surprise he pulled at the end–and the always beautiful, sexily clad models who hold the cases with the money as Howie starts the show off with his signature, “Hello, Ladies” and the beauties reply, in perfect unison, “Hello, Howie,” the season premiere of “Deal or No Deal” was a blast!

The contestant in this season premier of “Deal or No Deal” was a former New York lady who is living and working in Nashville, Tennessee, Donna DiBiase, a single mom homesick for her family and friends back in the big apple. Donna wanted to win big money on the show so she could move her and her son back home to New York. Unfortunately, like so many contestants in previous seasons, this single New Yorker didn’t quit while she was ahead and ended up with next to nothing, twenty-five lousy dollars. But not to worry, Howie sat her down and tried to console her. Then a bus filled with Donna’s friends and family, delivered courtesy of “Deal or No Deal,” came pulling into the studio. What a wonderful shock for the contestant! And if that wasn’t enough, the Donald, as I and so many others like to refer to Mr. Donald Trump, presented the contestant with a check that would well cover a move back home to New York., a check for $25,000. As you can imagine, Donna was one very happy lady, as were her son, her friends and family.

But you know what? The great thing about “Deal or No Deal” is that no matter how much or how little money the contestants win they still have so much fun. I give credit for this to Howie Mandel. I cannot imagine another person hosting this show. Howie presents just the right amount of humor, friendliness, and compassion, making the show the huge hit that it is. And speaking of hits, did you know that the concept of “Deal or No Deal” is not original nor is it American? The original “Deal or No Deal” was conceived and is still a smashing success in the United Kingdom. In the beginning season of “Deal or No Deal” it was straight game playing. But as the show gained popularity the stakes went higher and the surprises just kept coming. You never know what might happen next, as evidenced by this first episode and by what is predicted to be the best season of “Deal or No Deal” ever. The second episode is a celebration of Sunday Night Football since the contestant, George Barnes, is a huge football fan. Pro football players, members of the Hall of Fame, are in attendance and the models dressed in football jersey dresses.

If you have never watched “Deal or No Deal,” believe me, my fellow game show lovers, or fans of Howie Mandel and beautiful women, you are truly missing out!
