I Bit the Bullet

Yesterday I was going to take the afternoon off. But I got a burst of energy after I finished my writing assignments and spent all afternoon and into the evening monetizing my Writing Blog. I finally decided that I had enough steady traffic to warrant it. But I have had that traffic for a month or so now, have even watched it steadily grow using Stat Counter which, by the way, is the best tool I have found for keeping up with stats.

However, truth be known, I was procrastinating, thinking that signing up for monetization platforms and editing them into my blog would be hard. Come to find out, it wasn’t. Not at all. It just took some time, some patience, and paying attention to detail. So far I have added Vizu, a market research tool that will post different polls on my site for people to vote on and will pay me for having the polls there. They are in the process of analyzing my blog to see what polls will fit the subject matter.

I also placed an affiliate text link for Bidvertiser and Text Link Ads. I signed up for Google Adsense too, but I want to read up on it a bit before I decide where on my site to place the code so that the ads have the best reader access without being intrusive.

I applied to the Amazon Affiliate Program and am waiting for their review of my site. And last but not least, I signed up with EBay/Commission Junction and have applied to four different companies so far. This program is much more hands on and I am not sure how I am going to like that. They don’t just put ads on your site, you have to ask their list of sellers for an offer, and they suggest you rotate the ads regularly. We’ll see what happens with this. I’ll let you know.

I will also keep you updated as to how much money these programs bring in. My traffic is at about 100 visitors a day, which doesn’t sound like much, but being that the blog has only been on my own server since October, I don’t think that’s too bad.

I am not going to sign up for any more affiliate programs on that blog for a while. Actually, those I have applied for may be all I use there. We’ll see. Now it is time to focus on generating more traffic to that blog, getting traffic to this blog and more traffic to my entertainment and web reporting blogs.

In my next post, I will tell you about the steps I am taking to increase my traffic.
