My Dog “Good Girl”
Let me have the pleasure today of telling you about the best little dog in the world, Good Girl. She truly is my best friend. And though she does like to be pampered, I know that Good Girl would never sleep in a dog bed. Why? Because she sleeps right up against me!
I haven’t loved a dog like this since Candy, the Mexican Chihauhau we had when I was in high school. I found Good Girl on Craigslist. A lady brought her to me, the poor little thing shaking like a leaf, the lady saying that she had gotten her from a shelter and that her name was Enchilada. Well, she looks nothing like an Enchilada so I started calling her Good Girl, because she is!
She is the perfect dog. Even though it took me two days just to get her to come out of the laundry room and eat, and about a week to stop shaking, this dog has blossomed in my care, I am proud to say. She wakes me up every morning by jumping around on the bed like a rabbit. She loves to wrestle with my feet. She runs through the house when I clap my hands like she’s in a race. She talks to me when she’s hungry or wants to go outside. If I cry, she gets so sad that I feel guilty. She crawls up beside me and kisses me and snuggles my face with her nose.
The crying, you ask, what’s that about? My husband and I separated about a month after I got Good Girl and I was devastated. Not to mention the fact that I lost my oldest son to suicide a little over two years ago. So life has not been a bowl of cherries around here, that’s for sure. I feel as if God sent Good Girl to me to become my house mate during the dark days I was going through.
But never be deceived. Good Girl is a fierce watch dog. The hair on her back will stand straight up if she perceives danger.
What a blessing is my little Good Girl!
