Review of “Down River” by John Hart

I finished reading DOWN RIVER by John Hart last night and wanted to tell you about it, or moreso tell you about this wonderful author. I love discovering a writer that I haven’t read before that I like. John Hart has such a wonderful writing style and his prose sing. This is not a small feat, being able to tell the story of a mystery and make it literary, but John Hart pulls of this seamlessly.

The book is about a man who was wrongly accused of a murder in his hometown, and the person who accuses him is his stepmother. He leaves, trying to put the past and his family and home behind him, but his roots are too strong and he is called back home by his best friend, who needs his help. What he doesn’t know is that he is going to become embroiled in yet another murder case. But going home was the best thing that ever happened to him, because he finally faces his demons, and makes peace with the past.

If you love great writing, read this book. I didn’t really care what the story was about, the writing is what held me till the end.
